AELERT Masterclass | Integrity, Ethics and Professionalism

October 30 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm NZDT

Regulatory Integrity, Ethics & Professionalism Masterclass

Te Iho (Bowen House), Wellington, New Zealand
Friday, 30 October 2026

Join two of New Zealand’s leading regulatory practitioners, Keith Manch and Dr Marie Doole, for a discussion-based masterclass exploring integrity, ethics and professionalism in Wellington.

Overview

Integrity is the foundation of regulatory legitimacy. When it holds, regulators make defensible decisions, resist undue influence and retain public trust. When it slips, the damage is slow, quiet and hard to reverse.

Across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, regulators are being asked to uphold that standard in a harder environment: reform is reshaping mandates, resourcing is stretched, and pressure arrives from regulated parties and from within the authorising environment alike. This masterclass brings together two of Aotearoa’s most respected regulatory leaders, Keith Manch and Dr Marie Doole, in central Wellington to work through what integrity, ethics and professionalism require in practice, and how agencies can strengthen them deliberately rather than assume they will hold.

What’s Included

    • Full-day masterclass (9:00am to 3:30pm) with Keith Manch and Dr Marie Doole
    • Discussion-based sessions covering the fundamentals of good regulatory practice, integrity in the authorising environment, integrity in agency operations, and the mechanics of regulatory capture
    • Refreshments during breaks and coffee on arrival, where available
    • Certificate of attendance for CPD and capabilities records
    • Complimentary post-masterclass social event from 4-7.30pm including canapes and social drinks at the Thistle Inn
(RSVP by 21 October to adam.slater@sa.gov.au)

Who Should Attend

Regulatory staff at every level: frontline practitioners in compliance, enforcement, investigations, monitoring and assessment; managers and team leaders responsible for regulatory decisions and relationships; senior leaders and executives accountable for regulatory strategy, culture and capability; integrity, ethics, assurance and governance professionals; policy and legislative professionals; legal advisers to regulators; and academics, researchers and students working on regulatory practice and integrity. Mixed cohorts are encouraged, since integrity risks are tested daily across an agency, not only in senior roles.
