Reconciliation Australia: Truth-telling Research Report Launch

April 18 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm AEST

Reconciliation Australia is proud to launch this important new research project, Coming to terms with the past: Identifying barriers and enablers to truth-telling and strategies to promote historical acceptance.

Authored by Anne Maree Payne and Heidi Norman from the Indigenous Land and Justice Research Group School of Humanities & Languages at UNSW, the report explores a gap in research about what encourages Australians to engage with truth-telling and and our shared history.

First Nations people in Australia continue to point to truth-telling as a much-needed step in the path to recognition and reconciliation

The Truth-Telling Research Report Launch will explore ways forward: what people think about truth-telling and the purpose it should serve, what motivates people to get involved and what prevents them, and the implications for the development of effective and engaging truth-telling activities.

Speakers

  • Leanne Holt: UNSW PVC Indigenous
  • Karen Mundine: CEO Reconciliation Australia
  • Heidi Norman and Anne Maree Payne from the Indigenous Land and Justice Research Group, UNSW
  • Uncle Garry Matthews and Tess Meehan will discuss their community truth-telling insights.
