Handling PFAS from a Compliance and Enforcement Perspective (Webinar)

April 8 @ 12:00 am - 2:00 am AEST

An ELI and International Network for Environmental Compliance and Enforcement (INECE) Co-Sponsored Public Webinar

On-going research has shown that per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are widespread and their permanence in the environment is leading to harm in humans and animals. Given the variety of PFAS chemicals and their diffuse application in consumer, commercial, and industrial products, it can be difficult to effectively assess and address the environmental and health risks. While countries continue to advance legislation on restricting PFAS, existing legislation on water quality, hazardous waste, persistent organic pollutants (POPs), and superfund sites is crucial for existing enforcement efforts.

In this INECE webinar, panelists will discuss the efforts of different countries to implement legislation on PFAS, conduct enforcement activities against companies, and apply effective clean-up approaches. The webinar will raise awareness of the different approaches to handling PFAS from a compliance and enforcement perspective and facilitate increased collaborating in ensuring that effective action is taken to reduce harms.
