Join the AELERT Capability Suite pilot program

May 20, 2026

AELERT is developing a landmark professional capability suite to deliver consistent, high-quality, modular training pathways built specifically for the diverse needs of regulatory agencies across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

The regulatory profession spans an enormous breadth of functions, responsibilities, and professional disciplines. Within a single regulatory agency, you will find lawyers, scientists, investigators, policy designers, communications specialists, impact assessment officers, licensing administrators, and field-based compliance officers, all working under the same legislative mandate but requiring vastly different skills and knowledge to do their jobs well.

Despite this complexity, professional development for regulators has never had a true home. Training options exist across the market but they are fragmented, inconsistent in quality, and rarely designed with the specific context and culture of regulatory practice in mind. Generic public sector training does not meet the needs of a workforce that spans multiple functions, engagement, enforcement, and executive leadership, often within the same branch.

Introducing the AELERT Capability Suite

AELERT is developing a comprehensive, structured capability suite designed for regulatory agencies across every sector and jurisdiction in Australia and New Zealand. The suite’s modular architecture is its defining strength, allowing agencies to build professional development pathways that reflect their specific legislative context, workforce profile, and operational priorities. Whether your agency administers environmental protection, biosecurity, planning and development, resource management, or any other regulatory function, the suite is designed to be tailored to your people and your work.

The suite brings together a full range of training and accreditation pathways including:

  • Flexible modular online learning tailored to regulatory practice in your agency
  • AELERT accreditation as a recognised regulatory practitioner
  • VET qualifications through supported pathways
  • Tertiary level qualifications in environmental regulatory practice and leadership through our academic partnerships
  • Access to the AELERT Regulatory Masterclass Series

To complement the capability suite, AELERT’s Regulatory Masterclass Series provides access to leading thinkers and practitioners from across the globe for regulators to gain expert insight and actionable strategies to address complex issues facing the sector. The first masterclass on AI and emerging technologies ft. Professor Gary Marchant is currently open for registrations with three more planned over the next 12-months.

Join the Capability Suite pilot program

AELERT is inviting regulatory organisations to join the capability suite pilot program and contribute to building something that will serve the regulatory community for years to come. Pilot partners will receive early access for their teams, direct input into content design and development priorities, and a seat at the table as the capability suite is shaped and refined from the ground up.

Complete the expression of interest form below to register your interest. The more your organisation can share about its training needs and capability priorities, the better the suite will reflect the real demands of regulatory practice across the region.
