AELERT is sharing the following request from the South Australian Environment Protection Authority on behalf of Ashley Penhall, CDS Compliance Officer.
The SA EPA is undertaking a review of the regulatory and operational tools used to manage environmental nuisance, with a focus on dust, odour, and noise emissions from regulated and licensed activities. As part of that work, the EPA is seeking input from environmental regulators and partner agencies across jurisdictions to build a broader picture of how environmental nuisance is being managed nationally.
Purpose of the survey
The survey seeks to capture practitioner experience and perspectives across four areas:
- The effectiveness of current regulatory and enforcement tools
- Operational challenges and limitations in managing nuisance impacts
- Strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Approaches used in other jurisdictions that may inform future practice
Use of survey information
Information provided through the survey will be used to:
- Inform a review of current legislation, regulatory tools, and practices
- Identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Support comparison with approaches taken across jurisdictions
- Inform recommendations for future regulatory and operational improvements
Survey responses will be reported at an aggregated level and a summary of results will be shared with all participating organisations.
How to get involved
The survey is open now and closes Tuesday 16 June 2026. Participation from relevant regulatory, compliance, or technical staff is encouraged.
