AELERT welcomes new National Council member, Kate Harbert and Deputy Chair Amy Dennison

May 31, 2023

It is our great pleasure to announce the new Deputy Chair of AELERT; and a new Queensland member of the National Council, following resolutions by the Council last week.

New National Council Member, Kate Harbert is the Director of Southeast Compliance in the Environmental Services Regulation division of the Queensland Department of Environment and Science.

She leads environmental compliance practitioners regulating major industry in waste, coastal, heritage, utilities, infrastructure and quarries. Kate has been key in developing options for creating a new independent EPA for Queensland.

AELERT CEO, Gregory Abood said ‘Kate’s regulatory and leadership depth in emergency operations, environmental law, and business management strengthens our Council and our network in Queensland and the Torres Strait Islands.

‘We now have National Council representation in all states, territories and countries: enabling us to better know our people and materially serve all member agencies across all jurisdictions.

Amy Dennison has been elected Deputy Chair of AELERT.

Amy is the Executive Director of the Environment Regulation Division in the Department of Parks, Environment and Water Security, Northern Territory (NT).

She specialises in energy and environmental policy and has been committed to the sustainable economic development for over 13 years.

‘Amy brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in running regulator agencies in a challenging environment. She has a longstanding commitment to AELERT and NT regulators,’ said Greg.

‘Our network is stronger with Amy as Deputy Chair of the Council and we look forward to her leadership.’

Please join us in welcoming Kate and Amy!
