AELERT partner the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) is seeking a highly respected environmental or social practitioner to join the CEnvP Certification Board. This Board plays a crucial role in overseeing the Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) Scheme, the leading certification body for environmental and social practitioners in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
This is a great professional development opportunity for an experienced professional with in-depth specialist knowledge and a strong commitment to impartiality, fairness, and ethical practice to join the board in a voluntary capacity in service to the profession.
About the CEnvP Certification Board
The Certification Board, comprised of a Chair and six ordinary members, is guided by EIANZ By-Law 16 and the EIANZ Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. Its core responsibilities include:
• Making certification decisions, ensuring a fair, impartial, and robust process.
• Appointing Registrars and Specialist Environmental Advisory Committees (SEACs) to assist with assessment administration.
• Advising the EIANZ Board on continuous improvement of the scheme, including assessment criteria and specialist certification fields.
• Representing and advocating for the CEnvP Scheme to government and industry.
Board members are typically expected to commit approximately 5-10 hours per month, though this may fluctuate. Meetings are held approximately every six weeks, either in person or online. Appointments are for a three-year term, with eligibility for re-appointment for two additional terms. All members must commit to the EIANZ Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
Attributes of a potential candidate
Expressions of interest are open and encouraged from senior, respected environmental and social practitioners with expertise relevant to the CEnvP Scheme. While all relevant specialisations are welcome, site contamination experience is particularly desirable.

If you’re interested but unsure if you meet every criterion, we strongly encourage you to apply and highlight the unique strengths and skills you can offer the Scheme.
